Read our June gardening jobs guide to find out what to do now, what to plant this June and helpful gardening tips from our experts at ROOTS GARDEN to keep your garden at its best.

Gardening is as much about appreciating the beauty of the moment as it is about planning and planting for the future. The first tip we can give you is to enjoy these plants in your garden and home this month, because they are blooming:

What to plant in your garden during the month of June?

Hanging baskets can be a good idea. By June, the chill of previous months is gone. While there should already be plenty to enjoy, there are also a number of plants that can be added now for instant and future impact.

Gardening is often about the patient process of growing from seeds, bulbs or small plants and nurturing them over time. If you want to balance this with immediate color, foliage and scale in your garden, you can always find larger plants and those that are in bloom right now for instant impact.

What do we recommend? Let’s see:

First, you can visit our garden center in Tenerife, where we have a variety of plants that you can enjoy right now and, once planted, should continue to develop year after year. Also, you can plant with July and August in mind. In this case, you can plant late flowering shrubs, or plant sunflowers, either in pots Poppies? That can also be a great option.

You can also choose to plant vegetables. Lettuce can be grown along with perennials in your garden borders. In fact, in June, you can start harvesting lettuce and potatoes. Likewise, if you have a vegetable garden, you could sow zucchini or squash seeds, planted in individual pots placed on a windowsill, for example. Outdoors you can sow leeks, beets, carrots, green beans, snow peas, peas and radishes.

As daylight hours peak, there are enjoyable maintenance activities to do in the garden during this month of June. Pruning is one of the key activities, especially of tired-looking perennials such as geraniums, for example, with the goal of encouraging a second flush.
